Fresh Fish Special LP (gatefold sleeve vinyl)
Robert Gordon with Link Wray
Fresh Fish Special LP (gatefold sleeve vinyl)
Robert Gordon's two Private Stock Records LPs of 1977/78, with the legendary Link Wray on guitar, were among the best releases of the rockabilly revival.
They created something new from the ashes of rockabilly - it was not just revivalism, it was new music packed with energy, but rooted in the timeless truths of rockabilly.
During the second LP session, Bruce Springsteen contributed his song Fire, which he had originally written for Elvis.
Springsteen also played piano during the session.
It was the era of Punk and New Wave, and Robert Gordon's music appealed not only to fans of 1950s rock 'n' roll, but also to followers of The Ramones, Blondie and other big bands of the time.
