Those Deadbeat Cats return with Frankenstein's Jukebox, their second album of songs you never expected to hear played in rockabilly style. Taking familiar pop, rock and new-wave favourites and giving them a completely different treatment, the result is a wonderfully unexpected collection of rockin' cover versions.
From The Final Countdown and What's Up? to Spiderman, Take On Me and Don't You Forget About Me, the songs are transformed into something altogether more primitive and rockabilly-friendly. Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This, Eight Days A Week, Wonderwall, Eye Of The Tiger and Basket Case all get their turn in the jukebox, alongside Say You'll Be There, 20th Century Boy and plenty more unlikely candidates.
With 16 tracks of completely unexpected rockabilly reinterpretations, Frankenstein's Jukebox is made for anyone who enjoys hearing familiar songs given a serious musical makeover. If the idea of a rockabilly band attacking everything from The Beatles to Oasis, ABBA-era pop and 1980s new wave sounds appealing, this is one very strange jukebox worth investigating.
