The Pharaohs • Blue Egyptian CD
Blue Egyptian is a classic slice of mid-1980s British Psychobilly and Neo-Rockabilly from The Pharaohs, one of the bands at the heart of the legendary Klub Foot scene. Originally released during the band's early years, this thirteen-track collection captures the raw, energetic sound of a group who helped define the British Psychobilly and Neo-Rockabilly sound of the era.
The Pharaohs were regular performers at London's legendary Klub Foot, appearing alongside many of the most important names in the 1980s Psychobilly movement. Their sound sits between fast, aggressive Psychobilly and the more Rockabilly-rooted Neo-Rockabilly style, with plenty of pounding rhythm, sharp guitar and the wonderfully chaotic energy that made the Klub Foot era so memorable.
The title track Blue Egyptian sets the tone before the band tear through Gambling Man, Cry, Never Coming Back, Rehab and their distinctive take on Golden Earring's Radar Love. Elsewhere, Emerald Green Sky, Tomb Of The Dead, Killed Love, Vigilante and the suitably wild Surfin' Pharaohs show why The Pharaohs have remained favourites among followers of the original British Psychobilly scene.
For fans of 1980s Psychobilly, Neo-Rockabilly and the legendary Klub Foot scene, Blue Egyptian is an essential piece of the puzzle. Fast, rough-edged and full of character, this is classic British Psychobilly from a band who were right there in the thick of the scene.
