The Overcooked, The Poisoned And The Raw is the sole full-length album from Sgt. Fury, one of the great obscurities of the British Psychobilly scene. Drawing on a diverse range of influences, the Isle Of Wight band developed their own distinctive interpretation of Psychobilly, backed by a notable talent for songwriting. Their relative isolation meant that mainland gigs were few and far between, and after releasing three singles on Raucous Records, Sgt. Fury disappeared from the scene.
The album delivers a strong collection of original material, from the dark and atmospheric Cold Cold Sunday, Death Ship and Caught In A Dream through the driving Switching Blades, Just Another Phase and Southside. Elsewhere, Narrow Minds, Sweet To Sour and the wonderfully titled Herman's Hangover demonstrate the breadth of the band's songwriting and their distinctive approach to the genre.
Originally the band's only album, The Overcooked, The Poisoned And The Raw was remastered and reissued by Wreckin' Bones Records in 2022 as a limited edition of just 200 numbered copies, split between 100 black and 100 yellow vinyl copies. A rare opportunity to pick up one of the most elusive albums from the British Psychobilly underground.
