The Screaming Kids are one of the genuine names in French Psychobilly history, and Don't Get Down is their classic 1990 debut album. Hailing from Strasbourg, France, the trio deliver hard-driving Psycho-Rockabilly built around slappin' upright bass, snarling guitar and an energetic Rock 'n' Roll attack.
Originally released on Nervous Records in 1990, Don't Get Down quickly established The Screaming Kids as an important part of the European Psychobilly scene. Highlights include Suck My Poison, Stop Shakin' Them, Luger, Don't Get Down, Young Boys Wild Boys and Rock 'n' Roll Haunts My Blues, alongside their distinctive French-language version of Édith Piaf's L'Homme A La Moto.
The CD edition contains 14 tracks, including the bonus recordings Go Home and Family Ties. The Screaming Kids shared stages with many of the leading names in European Psychobilly, including The Meteors, Batmobile, Mad Sin, Restless, The Frantic Flintstones and The Guana Batz.
With its combination of raw Rockabilly, Punk energy, powerful slap bass and unmistakable French Psychobilly character, Don't Get Down remains an essential document of the European scene at the start of the 1990s.
