Gary Setzer and Barry Ryan make a formidable rockabilly combination on Rockabilly Express, their debut album together. The pair bring plenty of experience from the rockabilly revival, with Setzer's history including The Rockin' Rebels and The Stray Cats, while Ryan was a member of The Rockats. Here they combine their Americana roots for a collection of hard-driving rockers that pulls no punches.

From the meaty opening Hot Train To Hell through Las Vegas Blues and Whiskey Boys, Rockabilly Express covers a broad stretch of rockabilly and Americana. The Hurtin' Kind takes Ring Of Fire into Cajun territory, You're Gone explores lavish balladry in the tradition of Roy Orbison, while Barry's Breakdown brings bluegrass and jazz influences into the mix. There's plenty of variety here, but the emphasis remains firmly on the rockin'.
