Taking their name from an Eddie Cochran song, Pink Peg Slax appeared to be another Rockabilly revival band.
In reality, they were something altogether different.
Blending Rockabilly with Cajun influences, sharp songwriting and an irrepressible sense of humour, they carved out a unique place on the British roots music scene.
Championed by John Peel and Andy Kershaw, who invited the band to record four BBC Radio 1 sessions, and earning a string of five-star reviews in the NME, Pink Peg Slax built a loyal following with music that was always original, inventive and impossible to pigeonhole.
Even television chef Keith Floyd was a fan, contributing the sleeve notes to one of their releases.
Following a twenty-year break to raise families and pursue other careers, the original line-up reunited to prove they had lost none of their musical spark.
