Red Hot Riot • Hopeless Romantic 10" LP (Red Vinyl)
Red Hot Riot bring six original songs to Hopeless Romantic, a limited-edition red-vinyl 10-inch mini-album from this young British neo-rockabilly trio. Drawing on the 1980s rockabilly revival and the energetic British scene of the mid-1980s, the band combine vintage influences with their own songwriting style.
Fans of The Stray Cats and The Polecats will recognise the rockabilly revival spirit, while the influence of British scene favourites The Sharks and Frenzy adds a distinctly home-grown edge. From “I Wanna Be Yours (Tick Tock)” and “Masquerade” to “Cobwebs”, “Key To The Lock”, “Morning Light” and “What's A Boy To Do”, the six-track set showcases the band's ability to write catchy, original material.
Pressed on coloured vinyl, Hopeless Romantic is a great addition for collectors of modern rockabilly and psychobilly, as well as fans following the next generation of the British scene. A compact six-track release with plenty of revival spirit and its own identity, this 10-inch deserves a spin.
