The Rays • Bob's Crew – The Complete Recordings 1955-1962 CD

Best remembered for the timeless Doo-Wop classics Silhouettes and Daddy Cool, New York vocal quartet The Rays earned their place in Rock 'n' Roll history with one of the most memorable double-sided hit singles of the Rock 'n' Roll era. Fronted by the unmistakable voice of Hal Miller, the group combined irresistible harmonies with memorable songs that still sound as fresh today as they did in 1957.

The title Bob's Crew is no coincidence. The "Bob" in question was legendary songwriter and producer Bob Crewe who, together with his writing partner Frank Slay Jr., discovered the group in 1955 and worked with Hal Miller and an ever-changing line-up of The Rays throughout their recording career. This superb 30-track collection brings together virtually everything the group recorded between 1955 and 1962.

Although Silhouettes and Daddy Cool remain their defining recordings, they were far from one-hit wonders. Several of the outstanding tracks featured here also reached the US Hot 100, highlighting the remarkable consistency of a group whose catalogue deserves far wider recognition.

From the immortal Silhouettes and Daddy Cool to the group's overlooked later recordings, this is the definitive collection of one of Doo-Wop's finest vocal groups.
