Chicago was awash in independent record labels during the late 1950s and early 60s, hoping to channel the same big beat heat that kept the Chess and Vee-Jay logos on top locally. Unlike many of their fly-by-night competitors, Profile Records landed a national hit with Junior Wells' Little By Little. The label debuted in 1958 with Johnny Doray's One Of These Days, and closed up shop three years later with Watcha Gonna Do a self-produced single by Sun rockabilly Hayden Thompson. This collection presents 20 original Profile Records recordings dating from 1958 to 1961, complete with detailed liner notes. Featured artists include Mickey Hawks, Bobby Dean, Junior Wells, The Noblemen, Jessie & The Sequins, The Night Raiders and more.
