Powersolo serve up a gloriously wild mixture of garage rock, blues, country, Southern rock, punk and psychobilly on It's Raceday ...And Your Pussy, their 2004 album. From the opening Baby, You Ain't Looking Right through Kat Nazer, Mr. Suit, Juanito and Oak Tree Girl, this is raw, rootsy and thoroughly unconventional rock 'n' roll with plenty of attitude.
The album gets even more interesting as it barrels along, with Hillbilly Child featuring vocals from legendary R&B and blues wild man Andre Williams, while banjo, horns, saxophone and backing vocals add extra colour to Powersolo's primitive rockin' sound. Nascar, Fertilizer Baby, Booty Smoke, Broken Wings, Be Witcha and Truckin' demonstrate just how comfortably the band can jump between garage punk, country rock, blues and psychobilly without ever sounding remotely polished or predictable.
Originally released in 2004, this is a wonderfully eccentric slice of Danish roots rock that throws garage, country, blues and punk into the same battered old Cadillac and somehow gets it moving.
