Narvel Felts - Those Rockabilly Days CD

Born in Keiser, Arkansas in 1938, Narvel Felts began beating out time on a worn-out Gene Autry guitar while picking cotton to earn extra pocket money. After his family moved to Missouri when he was 14, he absorbed the sounds of rural Country music and Rockabilly coming from local radio, television and dance halls. At 17 he entered a talent contest and was soon broadcasting his music weekly on local radio.

Several of Narvel's original studio tapes from 1956 have miraculously survived, and some of these fascinating early recordings appear here. He subsequently tried his luck with Sam Phillips at Sun Records, recording two sessions in early 1957, before signing with Mercury later that year. After four Mercury singles he moved to Pink Records, part of Hi in Memphis, where he scored his first hit with Three Thousand Miles. This collection follows that remarkable journey through the rockin' side of his career.

28 tracks of Narvel Felts at his most rockin', bringing together recordings from across his career and featuring such essential titles as Lotta Lovin', Baby Let's Play House, Maybelline, Blue Suede Shoes, My Babe, Hound Dog, Mystery Train and Three Thousand Miles. With several precious 1956 recordings included, this is a fascinating collection of a performer whose journey from rural Arkansas to the Rockabilly scene produced some genuinely memorable recordings.
