Mike Penny & his Moonshiners are back, reconnecting with Texas Boogie. Musically richer and more sophisticated, they continue to follow the path that their idols have established at the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the '50s. With Rock Me Daddy-O, Country & Western elements move to the background, to be replaced by Jumping Jive, Boogie and Rhythm’n' Blues. This makes Rock Me Daddy-O the most danceable album yet from the five Hillbillies and should not be missing at any party. Worth mentioning in addition to the danceable Jive numbers such as Daddy-O-Rock, Rompin’ Stompin’, Diggin’ The Boogie, Jump Jack Jump or How Long Must I Wait is a cool stroll version of Creep (originally by Radiohead) as well as a great cover of 18 Miles to Memphis, which sounds as if it is the actual original version covered by the Stray Cats, instead of the other way round!
