Leon Payne's legacy as a songwriter far outstrips his own recording career, and his records nowadays sadly languish somewhere between forgotten and half remembered.
His songs like ‘Lost Highway’, ‘They’ll Never Take Her Love From Me’, ‘You Are The One’
and ‘I Love You Because’ are far better known via other artist’s recordings.
Yet Leon recorded regularly during the 1940s and 1950s, amassing a hugely impressive body of work.
This 31 track collection traces his story from the late 1940s through to the early '60s, taking in eight different record labels along the way, and it includes his brief flirtation with Rockabilly, as “Rock Rogers”.
Much of this material is almost impossible to find elsewhere on CD, making this a must-have for even the most casual fan.
