The Devil Said Shake CD

Lisa George & The Pedalos • The Devil Said Shake CD

Lisa George delivers a powerhouse performance on The Devil Said Shake, an album steeped in the spirit of classic 1950s rock ’n’ roll. Backed by The Pedalos, she moves effortlessly between rockabilly, jump blues, vintage country and rhythm & blues, with authentic production and musicianship that keep the music swinging.

Alongside a strong selection of original songs, Lisa and the band put their own stamp on rockin’ favourites including “Voodoo Voodoo”, “Touch Me” and “Hip Shakin’ Baby”. The album also features the self-penned “Blue-Eyed Rockabilly Boy”, the sultry “Funnel Of Love” and the title track. Rockabilly legend Wanda Jackson was impressed too, praising Lisa’s ability to tackle different styles with equal skill and encouraging her to keep rocking.

Praised for its roots in the sounds of the 1940s and ’50s, this is a terrific showcase for a distinctive British rock ’n’ roll vocalist. With 13 tracks blending strong original material, soulful delivery and classic rockin’ rhythms, The Devil Said Shake belongs in any collection devoted to authentic rockabilly and roots music.
