Guitar legend Link Wray pays tribute to his musical hero Elvis Presley on Link Sings Elvis, a superb 10-inch vinyl collection revealing another side of the man famed for the earth-shaking instrumental “Rumble”. These recordings combine Link's unmistakable rock 'n' roll attitude with his enthusiasm for the King's songbook, presenting a two-sided collection that balances full-throttle rockers with more intimate ballads.
The LOUD side delivers turbo-charged performances of “Little Sister”, “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Tiger Man”, with Wray's raw guitar style giving these Elvis favourites plenty of bite. Flip the record over for the quieter, more reflective side, featuring “Young And Beautiful”, “Love Me Tender”, “Home Is Where The Heart Is”, “As Long As I Have You” and the previously unissued “That's When Your Heartaches Begin”. The recordings span sessions from 1989 and 1995, including work at North London's Pathway Studios with garage-rock musician Bruce Brand.
A treat for fans of Link Wray, Elvis Presley, vintage rockabilly and classic rock 'n' roll, this 10-inch vinyl showcases a less familiar side of a genuine guitar pioneer. From the snarling energy of the uptempo numbers to the heartfelt delivery of the ballads, Link Sings Elvis offers a distinctive tribute to the music that helped shape Wray's own musical world, with the previously unissued ballad making this release especially appealing to collectors.
