The Kings Of Outer Space • How To Fly A Rocket CD

The Kings Of Outer Space return with their second album, How To Fly A Rocket, taking their distinctive blend of Neo-Rockin' and Psychobilly another step into outer space. Following the positive response to their debut Cosmic Debris, this is an even stronger collection of original songs from one of Britain's more inventive modern Rockin' bands.

There's plenty of slap-bass Psychobilly attitude here, but The Kings Of Outer Space have never been interested in simply recreating the past. Their sound pulls together old-school Rockabilly and Psychobilly influences with melodic songwriting, surf touches and a healthy dose of their own eccentric personality. The result is energetic, catchy and refreshingly individual.

The album gets off to a flying start with P.G.I.T.U., followed by 44, Fall From Grace and the excellent Daggertrap. Monkey Alarm, Watch Me Burn and Creepy Crawl keep the pace high, while Haunted Man, Smilin' Eyes and Cosmic Thrust demonstrate the band's knack for memorable melodies and quirky songwriting.

With Long Dry Summer, Moon Buggy Baby and Rocket Ride bringing the album home, How To Fly A Rocket proves that The Kings Of Outer Space were more than a one-album curiosity. If you like your modern Psychobilly and Neo-Rockabilly with plenty of originality, melodic hooks and a slightly warped sense of direction, strap yourself in and enjoy the ride.
