Country Music superstar Kenny Rogers began his career in the 1950s, where he showed his skills in various musical styles. Whether with his school band The Scholars, with whom he sang doo wop, as solo artist Kenneth Rogers, produced by rockabilly greats like Bennie Hess and Ray Dogget, or with the Bobby Doyle Three. He also participated in sessions for artist friends like Mickey Gilley, Bobby Hawks or his brother Lelan Rogers. All these early recordings, including an unreleased song, are collected here for the first time. Of course, his first hit That Crazy Feeling, with which he even appeared on Dick Clark’s ”American Bandstand” TV show, is not missing either. The songs show the rocky road that he travelled before becoming a superstar in later years with over 100 million records sold.
