The Holloway Echoes take a distinctly British trip through rock ’n’ roll and skiffle on A Long Way From London, their third album, released in 2021. Formed in 2018, the band share a love of the musical traditions associated with Lonnie Donegan, Chas & Dave and The Shadows, but bring their own voice to a collection of entirely self-penned songs.
Across 16 tracks, the band celebrate the characters, curiosities and cultural landmarks of Britain, from heavyweight boxing legend Henry Cooper to Commer vans and the world of eccentric musical innovator Joe Meek. Titles such as “Like It Or Lump It”, “Cock Of The North Circular”, “Commer Van Kept-A-Rollin'” and “There's A Buzz On Banjo Island” give a flavour of their distinctly British humour and storytelling.
If you enjoy vintage British rock ’n’ roll with a lyrical twist, A Long Way From London offers something refreshingly different from the usual American-inspired rockabilly fare. A witty, tuneful collection for fans of skiffle, pop-rock and the less predictable corners of Britain's musical heritage.
