Cacklefest is the 2007 studio album from UK Psychobilly renegades The Hangmen, delivering 14 all-original tracks from a band whose cult following was built through six previous albums and relentless live appearances across the UK, Europe and North America. Their sound is a dark, wild and thoroughly punked-up concoction of Psychobilly and Rock 'n' Roll, with songwriting that is every bit as deranged as the subject matter.
From the opening assault of Godkilla through Firewalker, Bad Medicine, Take It To The Grave and Nightmares In A Damaged Brain, the album rarely gives the listener time to catch their breath. Goodbye Coffin Joe, Graveyard Songs, Hell's Bells and Demonsemen add suitably macabre twists, while Wake Up, Smell The Nitro, Zero Worship and Sick Fuck Comic Book keep the whole thing firmly in the Hangmen's warped universe.
With Loz Firewalker responsible for the guitar, lead vocals, songwriting and arrangements, backed by Gravedigger Dan on double bass and Hell Burns on drums, Cacklefest has all the ingredients of a proper Hangmen record: raw energy, twisted humour, monster-movie darkness and enough Punk attitude to make it a definite play loud proposition.
