Hot New Orleans Nights is a superb collection from legendary saxophonist and bandleader Sam Butera, capturing the wild, energetic sound of his classic Rock 'n' Roll recordings. Originally issued on the RCA Victor and Groove labels, these tracks showcase Butera's distinctive combination of honking sax, driving rhythms and infectious New Orleans-inspired Rock 'n' Roll.
The 19-track set gets things moving with Shine The Buckle, Chicken Scratch, Sam's Clan and Easy Rocking, before tearing through a terrific selection including Wailin' Walk, Screw Driver, Giddyap Baby and Sweep Up. There's plenty of variety too, with the atmospheric Sam's Reverie, the soulful Linda and I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire sitting alongside Butera's more hard-driving material.
The collection is rounded out with alternative versions of The Tout and Ooh!, making Hot New Orleans Nights an especially enjoyable package for fans of vintage Rock 'n' Roll, New Orleans R&B and wild saxophone-led rockin' sounds. Nineteen tracks of honking horns, infectious rhythms and classic Sam Butera energy.
