Unearth a gruesome slice of British rock ’n’ roll history with Gravest Hits, a ten-track collection from the legendary Joe Meek tape archive. Part of the Joe Meek's Tea Chest Tapes series, this limited-edition 10-inch EP delves into the darker side of early British pop, bringing together horror-themed recordings, eerie instrumentals and monster-inspired rock ’n’ roll from the vaults.
Featuring The Moontrekkers, Screaming Lord Sutch & The Savages, Dr Dark, The Outlaws and Geoff Goddard, the collection includes the chilling “Night Of The Vampire”, “Jack The Ripper”, “The Spook Walks” and “Monster In White Tights”. Also featured are the pre-overdub version of “Return Of The Vampire” and the gloriously macabre “She's Fallen In Love With The Monster Man”. The recordings have been restored and remastered for this mono pressing, with liner notes by Craig Newton.
Pressed in a strictly limited run of just 500 copies, Gravest Hits is a treat for collectors of Joe Meek productions, vintage horror-themed rock ’n’ roll and the stranger corners of British musical history. With its archival recordings and wonderfully sinister song titles, this is a distinctive addition to any collection of early rock ’n’ roll and cult sounds.
