Thee Headcoatees return with Girlsville, a classic slice of raw Medway Garage Rock and Punk featuring the band's trademark combination of primitive guitars, pounding rhythms and infectious songs. With 'Bongo' Debbie, Holly Golightly, Kyra LaRubia and Ludella Black all contributing vocals, the album has plenty of variety while retaining the tough, stripped-down sound that made Thee Headcoatees such a formidable Garage Rock outfit.
The four vocalists take turns behind the microphone across a lively collection that includes Wild Man, When The Night Comes, Stolen Love, Round Every Corner and Run For Your Life. Holly Golightly takes the lead on The First Plane Home and Boysville, while Ludella handles Stolen Love, Run For Your Life, Give It To Me, Meet Jacqueline and Money. The result is a wonderfully scruffy, energetic set that captures the rebellious spirit of the Headcoatees at their best.
This 2026 reissue also includes two extra tracks, with Davey Crockett and Headcoat Girl expanding the original selection to 14 songs. With liner notes from Don Craine, the whole set remains firmly rooted in the rough-and-ready Medway tradition.
