Memphis Flash 1955 CD

Elvis Presley • The Memphis Flash 1955 CD

This fascinating 26-track collection captures Elvis Presley at the crucial moment when a young Memphis singer was rapidly developing into a major rock 'n' roll sensation. Featuring studio recordings, alternative takes and live performances from 1955, it documents a phenomenal year in the development of one of music's most important performers.

The collection brings together early Sun recordings with exciting live performances from the Louisiana Hayride, Eagle's Hall in Houston, the Cotton Club in Lubbock and other 1955 appearances. Alongside essential early numbers such as That's All Right, Blue Moon Of Kentucky, Baby Let's Play House, Good Rockin' Tonight and Mystery Train, there are performances of favourites such as Shake, Rattle & Roll, Tweedle Dee, Money Honey and Maybellene.

This is Elvis before the world had fully caught up with him, when the combination of country, blues, R&B and raw rock 'n' roll was creating something genuinely revolutionary. For fans of early Elvis and the explosive birth of Rock 'n' Roll, The Memphis Flash 1955 is an essential snapshot of the King in the making.
