Cliff Richard • Early Rock 'n' Roll Songs Vol. 3 CD
Before becoming one of Britain's biggest pop stars, Cliff Richard was one of the country's finest Rock 'n' Roll singers. Early Rock 'n' Roll Songs Vol. 3 explores this exciting 1959-1960 period, presenting a fascinating collection of recordings made with The Drifters, soon to become The Shadows. Still heavily influenced by the sound of Elvis Presley and the emerging American Rock 'n' Roll scene, Cliff was establishing himself as Britain's first genuine Rock 'n' Roll star.
The album opens with seven rare live performances including High School Confidential, Rockin' Robin, King Creole and Early In The Morning, capturing the youthful energy that made Cliff one of Britain's most exciting live performers. The remainder of the CD showcases his more melodic early recordings, with both original mono and stereo versions of songs including I Don't Know Why (I Just Do), As Time Goes By, Embraceable You, That's My Desire and Little Things Mean A Lot.
Beautifully remastered in high-definition 96kHz/24-bit audio, this volume offers a fascinating snapshot of Cliff Richard's formative Rock 'n' Roll years and is an excellent companion to the other releases in the Early Rock 'n' Roll Songs series. Essential listening for fans of British Rock 'n' Roll and Cliff's earliest recordings.
