Clyde McPhatter - More Of His Greatest Recordings 2CD

With his mellifluous, Gospel-infused voice, former Dominoes and Drifters lead singer Clyde McPhatter is acknowledged as one of the greatest and most influential singers of the 1950s and '60s. This superb 2CD set brings together three complete solo albums, Golden Blues Hits, Lover Please and Rhythm And Soul, all recorded during McPhatter's Mercury years between 1960 and 1962.

The collection includes some of McPhatter's finest Mercury recordings, ranging from Rhythm & Blues and Soul to Rock & Roll classics. Among the many highlights are “What'd I Say”, “Kansas City”, “Honey Hush”, “Fever”, “Money Honey”, “Don't Let Go”, “Such A Night” and “Sixty Minute Man”, alongside his two huge 1962 comeback hits, “Lover Please” and “Little Bitty Pretty One”. The three albums are accompanied by 12 non-LP singles, making this an especially valuable collection for collectors.

Several of the bonus recordings are notoriously hard to find on CD, including “I Ain't Givin' Up Nothin'”, “I Just Want To Love You”, “You're For Me”, “One More Chance”, “Before I Fall In Love Again” and “Tomorrow Is A-Comin'”. With 48 tracks across two CDs, More Of His Greatest Recordings offers an extensive journey through the Mercury recordings of one of the truly important voices in the development of modern Rhythm & Blues and Soul.
