Discovered by the legendary Colonel Tom Parker before he took Elvis Presley to worldwide fame, Arthur built a formidable reputation as a live performer. She shocked conservative audiences by appearing on stage in trousers rather than the traditional dresses expected of female country singers, while her sassy, suggestive songs even led to her being censored during appearances at the Grand Ole Opry.
