A superb live performance from Rockabilly legend Charlie Feathers, recorded in London in 1990 and capturing one of the great originals of American Rock 'n' Roll in electrifying form. Backed by Bubba Feathers on guitar and vocals and The Firebirds, Charlie tears through a selection of his best-known songs alongside a handful of well-chosen favourites.
Recorded at the Hibernian Club in Fulham, this performance finds Feathers at the age of 58 still delivering his uniquely eccentric brand of Rockabilly with astonishing energy. His unmistakable voice, guitar and rhythmic style remain completely intact, while the backing from Bubba Feathers and The Firebirds gives the performance a powerful live feel.
The set includes some of Charlie's most celebrated Rockabilly recordings, including Tear It Up, Too Much Alike, Everybody's Lovin' My Baby, One Hand Loose and the extended Tongue Tied Jill. There's also a cracking version of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues, along with Peeping Eyes, Gone Gone Gone and the beautifully unexpected closing performance of Will The Circle Be Unbroken.
Charlie Feathers was one of the most distinctive and uncompromising figures in the history of Rockabilly, and Live In London captures him well beyond his original 1950s heyday without sounding like a nostalgia act. This is a genuinely lively performance from a unique Rock 'n' Roll character, with Charlie still sounding completely like himself.
