Johnny Cash brings his unmistakable country sound to Boom Chicka Boom, an album originally released in 1989 and presented here as a 2020 vinyl reissue. The title itself nods to Cash's famous rhythmic style, while the ten tracks range from personal and reflective material to country storytelling with plenty of Cash's characteristic character.
The album opens with A Backstage Pass and includes Cash's versions of Cat's In The Cradle and Family Bible, alongside the characterful Farmer's Almanac and Don't Go Near The Water. The second side features Harley, I Love You, Love You, Hidden Shame, Monteagele Mountain and That's One You Owe Me, giving the album a varied mixture of traditional country themes, family, faith and everyday life.
Pressed on LP vinyl and reissued in 2020, Boom Chicka Boom is a fine opportunity to add a later-period Johnny Cash album to the collection.
