Billy Walker became a member of the legendary Big D Jamboree in Dallas when he was just a teenager. In 1949 he signed his first record deal with Capitol Records, and two years later he landed a contract with Columbia. From 1952 he belonged to the Louisiana Hayride and he scored his first hit in 1954 with Thank You For Calling. This addition to the 'Gonna Shake This Shack' series proves that Walker was much more than just the ballad singer on the Grand Ole Opry. This 30 track collection gathers material from the first fourteen years of his career, from 1949 to 1962. It focuses on his more uptempo recordings, ranging from Texas honky-tonk and Tex-Mex-style songs to rockabilly, and is accompanied by a 28 page booklet with detailed liner notes and photographs.
