Restless had firmly established themselves as one of the leading bands of the British Neo-Rockabilly revival by the time After Midnight was released in 1986. Fronted by the outstanding guitarist and songwriter Mark Harman, the band combined the spirit of classic Rockabilly with contemporary songwriting and musicianship, creating a distinctive sound that earned them a devoted following and regular headline appearances at London's legendary Klub Foot.

Originally climbing the British Independent Albums Chart, After Midnight also spawned the successful singles Somebody Told Me and Just A Friend. Featuring highlights including What Can You Say?, Trouble Rides A Fast Horse, Dark Blue Sea and the title track, the album perfectly captures Restless at the height of their creative powers.
