Acropolis Now finds Thee Mighty Caesars delivering another gloriously raw dose of primitive Garage Rock and Punk, with Billy Childish's guitar and vocals driving a collection of 14 original compositions alongside a suitably trashy take on Li'l Red Riding Hood. Recorded with John on bass, Del on drums and Fay and Sarah adding organ and backing vocals, it captures the band's stripped-back approach at full strength.
The album opens with the driving I've Got Everything Indeed, Now I Know, When The Night Comes and I Can Judge A Daughter, before moving through (Miss America) Got To Get You Outside My Head, Li'l Red Riding Hood and You Make Me Die. The second half turns up the garage-punk intensity with Loathsome & Wild, Ask The Dust, Despite All This, I Don't Need No Baby, I Feel Like Giving In, Dictator Of Love and I Was Led To Believe.
Originally issued in 1985, Acropolis Now is another uncompromising document of Thee Mighty Caesars' primitive Medway sound, where rough-edged guitars, pounding drums and Billy Childish's songwriting take centre stage.
