Duane Eddy
Jasmine EP Collection CD
With his trademark red Gretsch guitar, charismatic demeanour, movie star good looks and instantly-identifiable twangy playing style, Duane Eddy became rock ‘n' roll's first major Instrumental icon.
The prototype guitar hero, he introduced an entirely new sound to Rock 'n' Roll by plucking dramatic, single-string lead melodies on the lower, bass strings of his axe, and making liberal use of the bendy effect afforded by the (then relatively-new) whammy bar.
With his echo-drenched singes, with their signature saxes and whooping rebel yells, Duane was innovative and almost immeasurably influential.
This collection of 35 tracks is drawn from the Duane Eddy EPs issued in the US, the UK, Germany, France and Sweden between 1958 and 1962.
