Urban Voodoo Machine
Hellbound Hymns CD

London's bourbon-soaked gypsy blues, bop 'n' stroll band The Urban Voodoo Machine are back with their fourth album, Hellbound Hymns.
Having played Glastonbury, Download, Latitude, Bestival and Hard Rock Calling, toured with The Pogues, the New York Dolls plus received support from BBC Radio 2's Paul Jones and Huey Morgan, 6Music's Gideon Coe and Chris Hawkins, The Guardian, Q Magazine, Classic Rock and Vive Le Rock for their previous albums, Hellbound Hymns marks a new chapter in the band's story.
It's a mash-up of guitars, drums, upright bass, horns, violin, piano, accordion, bouzouki, Hammond organ and more, all topped up with the gravelly voice of Mr Paul-Ronney Angel telling tales from the dark side.
Hellbound Hymns marks the band's 13th year and features 13 tracks that can be heard on their Lucky 13 Tour.
Urban Voodoo Machine have become one of the greatest live acts in the country terrifyingly bizarre, hysterically funny; a riot for the eyes and sensation for the ears.

"The most exciting Technicolor racket since Gogol Bordello first hit the UK" -Classic Rock Magazine
"Like an Elmore Leonard novel gate-crashing the most riotous party in town" -Louder Than War Magazine
"The Urban Voodoo Machine incorporate a head-turning and bewildering range of influences, and seem to have them all on their latest album, Hellbound Hymns. The album sounds like a band coming of age, delivering with the same riotous authority of The Pogues at their best, inheriting the gang mentality of The Clash and with the spirit - and sprits - of Johnny Cash, Tom Waits and Django Reinhardt all blending into an often invigorating and darkly uplifting whole... Exhilarating and essential" ***** -Steve Caseman, BBC Radio 2
