Treat Me Nice - The Songs Of Leiber & Stoller
Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were arguably the most important and influential songwriters in the history of Rythm & Blues and Rock 'n' Roll.
This carefully assembled 64-track double-disc set traces the first 10 years of their joint writing and producing career, between 1952-62, starting with their very first hit record - Charles Brown’s Hard Times.
Songs like ‘Hound Dog’, ‘Kansas City’, ‘Yakety Yak’, ‘Riot In Cell Block #9’, ‘Jailhouse Rock’, ‘Smokey Joe’s Café’, ‘Drip Drop’, ‘Ruby Baby’ and ‘Charlie Brown’ remain iconic 1950s musical landmarks.
This collection features the classic songs of Leiber & Stoller, performed by many of the greatest artists of the era including The Coasters, The Drifters, Ruth Brown, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Big Mama Thornton, Lavern Baker, Clyde McPhatter, Big Joe Turner, Screaming Jay Hawkins, The Clovers, Wynonie Harris, Dion and The Belmonts and many others.
Several of these tracks are not available elsewhere on CD.
