Teen Billy Baby CD
The Sprouts
Teen Billy Baby CD
From 1957 onwards, the Everly Brothers were among the most popular rock 'n’'roll artists in the world, so it was little wonder that other record companies were also interested in duos that could appeal to the teenage market.
Two of the lucky ones were William David ’Billy’ Cosby and Bobby Region Johnson.
The two met in 1951 and soon they began playing and singing in the neighbour-hood and at school events.
Bobby composed a song entitled Goodbye She’s Gone and they signed with Spangle Records before the major company RCA took over the recordings.
In early 1958, Goodbye She’s Gone made the top ten in several local markets.
RCA also released the record in the UK, Germany, Canada and New Zealand and some follow up recordings
A few more Sprouts records followed, along with two releases as Bobby & Bill Kidd, before they joined Country Star Tex Ritters band for several years.
The Sprouts recorded some fine Rockabilly and Rock 'n' Roll, and this 29 track collection presents them all on CD for the first time.
