Skiffle Showcase is a 32 track collection of early Skiffle material, including the original version of Freight Train which went Top 40 in the US and reached #5 in the UK.
Skiffle became a major musical force in the UK during the late 1950s, although it is often credited only as a forerunner to British Rock 'n' Roll.
Among the major names to emerge from the birth of Skiffle are Chas McDevitt, Nancy Whiskey and of course Lonnie Donegan, all featured on this collection.
Gathered mainly from repertoire of Oriole Records, the package is enhanced by a quality booklet featuring original photos, biogs and discographies.  There are plenty of rarities here that will be of interest to Skiffle enthusiasts and fans of early British Rock 'n' Roll.
