You Can't Sit Down CD
One of the more memorable instrumental hits of 1961 was the irrepressible You Can’t Sit Down (Part 2), by the Philip Upchurch Combo.
Although only a moderate-sized chart rider, it became a million-seller.
At the time of its success, nineteen-year old Upchurch was doubling as the guitarist in Dee Clark’s band, and a session player for Vee Jay Records.
He went on to carve out a long and distinguished career as a session guitarist, alongside a parallel solo career.
This collection deals with his brief career releasing instrumentals, on the back of his hit single.
It presents two complete LPs, You Can’t Sit Down Part Two and The Big Hit Dances, along with a couple of non-album singles from around the same time.
Much of this material very rare and is virtually impossible to find elsewhere on CD.
