A vocal quintet from Philadelphia featuring four guys and a girl, The Majors originally formed in 1959 as The Versatiles, cutting just one 45 before being obliged to break up when Uncle Sam came a-knocking for the boys.
They reformed in 1962, as The Majors, with the same line-up.
After linking up with producer Jerry Ragovoy they charted with three genuinely great records, A Wonderful Dream, She’s A Troublemaker and A Little Bit Now, which are included here in both mono 45rpm and stereo LP versions.
This collection anthologises everything that the group recorded during their magic first year of trading, including further 45s like Anything You Can Do, Tra La La and One Happy Ending, as well as their LP Meet The Majors.
Bonus tracks include The Versatiles’ ultra-rare 45rpm release Lundee Dundee/Whisper In Your Ear.
Many of these recordings have never previously appeared on CD.
