Ken Levy and The Phantoms / The Jumping Jewels Kings of Eurotwang! CD
After Rock 'n' Roll guitar instrumentals became hugely popular in the US and the UK in the late 1950s, by 1961, Europe was awash with groups of Shadows clones. Some of these enjoyed commercial success, although many didn’t. This compilation 32 track collection focuses on two groups who did. Although The Phantoms originated from Cambridge, England, they became huge stars after relocating to Sweden, where they realigned as Ken Levy & The Phantoms. They also enjoyed popularity in neighbouring territories Norway and Finland. Conversely, The Jumping Jewles emanated from The Netherlands and went on to enjoy successes throughout mainland Europe, Asia and South America, as well as their native Holland. Many the recordings on this collections are very difficult to find elsewhere on CD, making this something of a must-have for fans and collectors of rock 'n' roll instrumentals.
