Jerry Byrne's Lights Out is one of the definitive wild rock 'n' roll songs of the 1950s.
It certainly did no harm that Mac Rebennack, better known as Dr. John, was involved in the studio or as a composer on this and other of his songs.
Little Richard helped him get into his record company - Specialty Recoords - and the result was the finest New Orleans Rock 'n' Roll songs.
Originally released in 1958, Lights Out never hit the national chart, but it was a regiuonal hit and two more Specialty 45s and extensive touring followed.
Further records were cut under different names, and they are all collected together here for the first time.
