Rhythm and Blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist James Hunter is known for his "gritty" and "soulful" voice, and has been hailed by MOJO magazine as "The United Kingdom’s Greatest Soul Singer".
Hunter's career spans over 40 years, characterized by a style that evokes 1950s and 60s soul, R&B, and early rock and roll.
He began performing under the alias Howlin' Wilf with his band, The Vee-Jays, releasing his first album, Cry Wilf, in 1986.
His 2006 album People Gonna Talk reached #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.
In 2013, he formed The James Hunter Six, which became the first ever British group to be signed to the renowned Daptone Records label.
Off The Fence is his 11th studio album, and features the 2025 Ain't That A Trip.
