Wade Ray never achieved the fame of Bob Wills or Spade Cooley, but he was a fine musician who played hot swing fiddle, as well as a versatile vocalist. Musicians on his records included Speedy West, Jimmy Bryant, Chet Atkins, and Owen Bradley.
