Hey Little Boy Hey Little Girl 1949-1962 CD

Unlike Roy Milton, Jimmy Liggins and Lloyd Glenn, Richard Lewis and Dolores Gibson were never the star attractions on the West Coast scene, but judging by their personal appearances and recordings they must have had a big following however short lived it was.
Richard Lewis first appeared in 1949 playing piano along with Marvin Phillips recording two instrumentals as the Rhythm Riffers.
Over the next few years Lewis went on to record some wine induced singles with Phillips before teaming up with Dolores Gibson.
Phillips went on to seek fame as one half of Marvin & Johnny.
In 1954 Lewis & Gibson recorded a minor hit with Hey Little Boy for Aladdin, which Lewis followed up with an answer disc Hey Little Girl under his own name.
He continued to record during 1954 and then dropped out of sight.
He was never interviewed, and all that’s known about him has come from Marvin Phillips.
Dolores continued recording with him during 1954 with a few singles being issued and a few titles appearing on a compilation LP.
She then reappeared in 1960 with some singles under her own name, apparently recorded with the Johnny Otis Orchestra.
She too then disappeared from view.
Richard Lewis & Dolores Gibson have left us is an enjoyable body of music that deserves to be heard by a wider audience and there’s something vaguely familiar with the last two titles on this set.
