Fronted by Italian-American Johnny Mastrangelo, who would become known as Johnny Maestro, teenage New York street corner DooWoppers The Crests were one of the earliest mixed race vocal groups to achieve significant commercial success.
Although best remembered for their biggest hit, the million-selling Sixteen Candles, they racked up eleven further U.S. chart entries, including The Angels Listened In, Step By Step and Trouble In Paradise, while Maestro weighed in with a trio of solo hits of his own, notably Model Girl.
All these and many more are included on this 31 track collection which presents the very best of both The Crests and Johnny Maestro across five different record labels between 1957-62, and features all their chart records.
