Since Carl Perkins entered the Sun Studios in Memphis in December 1955 to record his own original version of Blue Suede Shoes, there have been hundreds of covers versions recorded, making it arguably the most versioned song of its type.
This collection brings together 25 such variants, all dating from the 1950s and early 1960s.
These are not just the USA, but also the UK, Germany and Australia – almost 20 of them from 1956 alone, a measure of just how popular a song it was at its chart peak.
