My Blues Are Red Hot CD
Billy "The Kid" Emerson
My Blues Are Red Hot 1954-1960 CD
Singer, songwriter and pianist Billy "The Kid" Emerson was one of Ike Turner's early 1950s discoveries, who Ike took to Memphis and was introduced to the mighty Sam Phillips at Sun Records.
He also subsequently recorded for iconic labels like Vee Jay and Chess Records.
Emerson's lasting fame largely rests on a handful of songs which were more famously recorded by other artists over the ensuing decades, notably the Rockabilly standard Red Hot and When It Rains It Pours which Elvis Presley cut whilst at Sun.
Although hitless, his own recording career nonetheless yielded a hugely impressive body of work, ranging from Blues, R&B and embryonic Soul.
This 26 track collection anthologises Emerson's singles releases between 1954 and 1962, including his original Sun recordings of both Red Hot and When It Rains It Pours.
