Link Davis began in the 1950s as a forward-looking white singer and saxophonist, recording a storming version of "Good Rockin' Tonight" five years before Elvis Presley's supposedly ground-breaking attempt at the same song. Then he became a Cajun fiddler, scoring a big regional hit "Big Mamou". In the mid '50s the coming of Rock 'n' Roll saw Link re-emerge as a rocker, cutting some of his most memorable records including "Sixteen Chicks", "Grasshopper Rock" and "Don't Big Shot Me".
