The Astrophonix were founded in early 2003 by singer and lead guitarist Simone Di Maggio, who was honored at the age of just 15 in the legendary Rockabilly Hall of Fame as one of the most brilliantly talented guitarists of the Rockabilly world scene.
The style of the The Astrophonix combines 1950s American music with a balanced punchy sound inspired by punk rock and psychobilly.
The concept of X - the Italian trio's 4th album - is about the landing of the Astros on planet Earth; 3 extraterrestrial explorers whose mission it is to research the inhabitants of the blue planet... a task that brings completely different insights into the civilized world than expected...
A very cynical but ultimately positive vision of the earth and its inhabitants in the not too distant future...
The sound of the album pushes the boundaries of the clichéd rockabilly style even more than its predecessors and mixes in punk, surf and a futuristic space twang .
Of course, each of the 11 songs by X also works on its own and with Fighter, Sons of Universe and I See Your Face, the density of immediately catchy pieces is always guaranteed!
This may be their fourth album, but the journey of the Astrophonix is only just beginning...
