This album is the result of Nate Gibson's four years of research into Starday Records and is dedicated to his friend Don Pierce, Starday President and Co-Founder, who wrote and recorded the introduction and liner notes just two weeks before his passing in April of 2005. Don played a pivotal role in country music history, jump-starting the careers of George Jones, Dottie West, Jimmy Dean, Willie Nelson, Roger Miller and countless others. Aside from Don's musings, the record also features covers of several Starday tunes including 'My Heart Gets Lonely' (Eddie Skelton), 'My Blackbirds Are Bluebirds Now' (Sleepy Jeffers) and Wayne Raney's anthemic 'We Need A Whole Lot More of Jesus (And A Lot Less Rock and Roll)' as well as quite a few Nate Gibson originals.
